Get Your Head Out of the Way

The past month or so I had been feeling out of sorts. I had been depressed and downright grumpy. It seems like I had forgotten one of the things I had learned early on in my studies of Tantra and spirituality. The head needs to get out of the way so that the body can truly feel.

I am a person that always approaches things from a rational point of view rather than an emotional stand point. I also have a tendency to try to control my emotions by having my head try to tell my body what it should feel. When the emotions involved are a little stronger or when some healing is required, this is not a good recipe. The head shouldn’t be telling the body what to feel but should create a safe space so that we can truly experience our feelings.

So, once I remembered what is obvious to some, I decided to look inward and see what was causing this obvious imbalance. I found a tranquil place and time, quieted my mind and started breathing deeply. This allowed me to better experience my feelings and recognize emotions that needed to be acknowledge. Only once I recognized these emotions, by getting my head out of the way, could I start healing. Experiencing and acknowledging my true feelings brought me back into balance. I have no doubt that the healing process has already begun.
