Creating a Loving Space

One of my favourite tantric rituals is the creation of the sacred space. Creating a warm and inviting place to share sacred sexuality is a gift I sometimes give, sometimes receive and often share.

If I walk into my bedroom to find that my lover has created a beautiful space filled with my favourite things, I consider it a true gift of love. It is interesting to note that my favourite things are not necessarily her favourite things. I like soft exotic music, she prefers quiet, I love massage oil, she loves feathers and powder, I love lot's of pillows, she prefers a flatter surface. So when I offer her the gift of creating a sacred space, I fill it with the things she loves, just as she does for me.

Creating the space together is also a loving gesture that we often share. Letting your lover know that tonight you're in the mood for body candy or a darker softer room demonstrates the intimacy you share. Being willing to bring in things that your lover desires expresses your gift of worship.

Preparing the sacred space is a very loving gesture and can express things that spontaneous encounters cannot.
